Conventions of a Magazine

The media language that is used within the magazine cover conveys the idea Kerrang is trying to get across. The pose of the model helps portray the meaning of the subtitle 'Jared Leto's Dark Side Exposed' This is because the pose looks like he is being violent which could be seen as his 'Dark Side', this makes us want to read the magazine because we want to know what they mean by his dark side. The colour scheme of the magazine conveys with the stereotype of Gothic, alternative bands who choose dark colours for their image.
The ideology of the magazine could be described as sharing the news that is occurring within the rock/heavy metal music industry. It gives us an insight of the information about the latest bands, including news, tour dates, merchandise etc. It also gives us information on new bands that are hitting the music scene and who are becoming popular.
The audience that this magazine is aimed at is a multi aged audience that have an interest in rock/heavy metal music.
The Institution that publishes Kerrang Magazine is Bauer Media. This institution is part of the Bauer Media Group, who offers 300 magazines in 15 countries. Bauer Media mainly focuses on magazines and radio stations. I feel that this represents the alternative scene accurately as its articles are based on alternative music and it includes pictures of the artists that have the articles about them which gives us an idea of who to expect within the magazine.
